Begin your visit from Porta Catania, the southern entrance of the town, walking along the cobblestoned Corso Umberto, the main street of this famous destination. Taormina prospered in trade during the Middle Ages, and in addition to a pair of magnificent palaces, many elaborate public buildings and mansions were erected in the heart of the city. Discover the Fountain of "Minotauro," the Cathedral dedicated to S. Nicolo of Bari, the Townhall building, S. Catherine Church, the Odeon, and Palace Corvaja, together with the numerous handicraft boutiques, pastry shops, and exclusive stores. After approximately two hours, you will rejoin your tour guide and continue with a drive towards a local winery located on the Northern side of Mt. Etna.
Mt. Etna has always been the landmark of the island of Sicily, with its impressive heights and frequent eruptions. Not only an active volcano, the area is also the principal provider of Sicilian wines, citrus fruits and olive oils.
