Altun-Ha was a major trading center, agricultural town and toll city built by the Mayans between 200 B.C. to 800 A.D. Learn about the Mayans, Belize's first inhabitants, as you tour the famous ruins.
During this Belize excursion walk among several structures, including a tomb that contains a 6-inch carved jade head of Kinich Ahau, the Mayan Sun God. This jade carving is the largest well-carved jade object excavated in Belize to date. Climb the steps of the Temple of the Sun God for amazing panoramic views of the site and surrounding area. After exploring the area you will head to Hattieville, a community born of displaced families following the aftermath of Hurricane Hattie in 1961. Following a brief safety meeting and overview of road rules you will board a Jeep for the ride of a lifetime!
Take the wheel and blaze through the pine savannah and lush forest, as you make your way to the foothills of the Maya Mountains.
